EXPERIENCE A PEACEFUL ONE-DAY TOUR
We offer you a pleasant one-day tour to the South of the Netherlands.
After meeting you at a pre-arranged location, travel by coach or minibus to Maastricht.
Day 1 City walk incl. a visit to the oldest local Brouwerij (45 minutes)
A guide will take you to the historic city of Maastricht where you will witness the picturesque streets of
the Stokstraat quarter, Onze Lieve Vrouwe square, the famous Vrijthof square, the city's ramparts, the Helpoort, and the Jeker quarter. You will learn about its history and its progression from Roman settlement to important garrison city and early industrial power house. You will also hear about the way of life known as the 'Mestreechter Geis'. The tour is both entertaining and educational for your group.
Day 2 Visit the beer brewery and taste 2 beers (45 min)
Then our guide will take you to Bosch historic brewery est. in the year 1758 and closed in 1970 which is a monument of industry. You will have taste of 2 beers and cheese horse d’oeuvres from the cellar.
Day 3 Casemates Waldeck Bastion
Next our guide will take you to the Casemates an underground passageway created on the western side of Maastricht during 575 and 1825. The guide will explain as to why the unique monument was created. Thanks to its
strategic position alongside the Meuse, Maastricht has always had a strong appeal to foreign rulers. The city was attacked and besieged on countless occasions.
For seven centuries, almost unceasing work was carried out on building and maintaining the city walls, moats, forts and other defensive works around the city. This resulted in a labyrinth of cleverly laid-out underground passageways, which could house army units of as many as 5000 men. Warm clothes are recommended and there will be no public toilet available inside the passage
After lunch we will visit a family run award winning wine estate which was planted back during Roman times. You can roam around with the guide and will able to taste Pinot Noir, Riesling and Müller-Thürgau as well. After enjoying our special tour, the stop for dinner at the Château’s restaurant would be the greatest final touch of the day. The restaurant serves dinner at Château in Maastricht, where dishes are created using homegrown vegetables from the castle gardens.
